To suffer from lethargy and depression during winter is not unusual and this is known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Lots of research has been carried out and it shows that as the amount of natural light decreases, the body may physiologically respond to these conditions by changing certain hormone levels and biological activities. The effects of these changes can include:
- Intense fatigue, exhaustion and various sleep disorders.
- Decreased work efficiency and loss of vitality.
- Increased appetite leading to weight gain.
- General passivity and depression.
